Artist Mike Kelley (1954–2012) is widely acknowledged for his influential contributions to the art world since the 1970s, drawing inspiration from spirituality and heavy metal to Superman comics, pop- and sub-culture. His work has transgressed a pure art context, propelling to other industries, such as when he designed a cover for Sonic Youth or with his own band Destroy All Monsters. Until September 8, K21—Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen in Düsseldorf presents “Mike Kelley. Ghost and Spirit” as a major retrospective.
On the occasion of this exhibition and in honor of Kelley’s outstanding artistic work, 032c launches a T-shirt, longsleeve, and a denim work jacket using the iconic and experimental imagery of Mike Kelley together with K21 and the Mike Kelley Foundation for the Arts.
